Arnica

Arnica Oil

Wildharvested

Botanical Name    Arnica montana

Origin   High Sierra Nevada mountains, California, USA

Benefits

Notes    The arnica oil is made from soft yellow flowers that I lovingly wildcrafted from a verdant hillside at 11,000' in Wyoming this summer and solar infused in fresh organic olive oil. I was careful to take only a small percentage of each flower population (less that 1%), ensuring that they continue to flourish.

History     Arnica montana has been used throughout history in oils and creams to treat sprains, bruises and muscle pain.

Constituents    Sesquiterpene lactodes of the helenanolid type, predominantly ester derivatives of helenalin and 11, 13-dydrohelenalin, flavonoids (isoquercitrin, luteolin-7-glocoside and astragalin), volatile oil (with thymol and its derivatives), phenol carbonic acid (chlorogenic acid, cynarin, caffeic acid), and coumarins (umbelliferone, scopolitin).

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C)

Botanical Name
(none) Ascorbic acid is produced from plant-based glucose (sugars)
Origin    USA
Benefits    Vitamin C helps to plump up the skin and reduce environmental damage, bringing the skin a more youthful appearance. Vitamin C is needed for the production of collagen in the connective tissue. These fibers are ubiquitous throughout the body; providing firm but flexible structure. Vitamin C is also needed to synthesize carnitine, important in the transfer of energy to the cell mitochondria. It is a strong antioxidant, "mopping up" free radicals in the skin, helping to reverse and prevent environmental damage to skin cells.
